What is Judo?

Judo is an Olympic martial art founded by Jigoro Kano in Japan c. 1882. It is one of the few martial arts that does not include striking, focussing instead on grappling, throws, holds and - for the more advanced - submissions.

One of the main attractions of judo is its ability to cater for people of all shapes and sizes – no matter your height, weight, age or gender, judo will equip you with the tools to be successful against anyone.

But judo does not just teach the techniques - it also teaches the importance of everyday values. Respect, dedication and self-discipline are the at the core of every judo player's progression, and it is these same values that are central to Harrier's judo philosophy.
